Mad Hatter's Tea Party at the Mal

Croquet, cocktails and gin in teacups

Published on May 3rd 2011.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party at the Mal

This event at the Mal on Saturday 7 May sounds like fun. It's a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, complete with croquet on the terrace, cocktails from teapots, and mad Mal munchies.

The idea is that you take time off from being an adult for an afternoon and immerse yourself in a surreal, fantastical wonderland. Hendrick's gin are the sponsors – with teacups of this lovely stuff flowing throughout the day, it shouldn't be too hard to regress back to your inner child.

The Mal has an element of the fantastical about it even on a normal day. Plush and Parisian-styled with a chessboard reception, acres of velvet and moody lighting, it's the antithesis of a personality-void chain hotel. If you want a break from the ordinary and everyday, a drink, meal or night here will set you right.

Anyway, back to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. It's a party for a party's sake and it looks set to be a good one. There will be a BBQ, cupcakes, cocktails, gin, japes. The perfect Saturday afternoon escape.

It takes place on Saturday 7 May from midday to 4pm. Tickets cost £20 including teapot of cocktail and crazy canapés.

Places are limited. If you'd like to go, please call the Mal on 0161 278 1033 or email vmcmahon@malmaison.com
