MFDF To Kick Off With Real Oompah

THIS year’s Food and Drink Festival will start with an oompah with a tribute to the Munich Oktoberfest from Friday 7 – Wednesday 12 October sponsored by Lufthansa and German beer brand Veltins.

Albert Square will house a pop-up Bier Keller on the Square with steins of Veltin's Bavarian beers. To soak up some of the beer, Oktoberfest partners Kro will be serving up traditional Bavarian and German sharing platters of meat and sauerkraut.

Topping off the Bavarian experience will be performances from local brass bands.

In addition on Saturday 8 October the Oktoberfest experience will be taking over the whole Square with the craziness extending the day to the big 'Gastro Room' Marquee, with live music and the chance to win flights to Munich to visit the Christmas Markets .

The Oktoberfest is free.
