Live music, festive food and NYE at Rosso

Rosso is planning a winter of live music and festive Italian food

Live music, festive food and NYE at Rosso

Rosso, Rio Ferdinand's restaurant on Upper King Street, has several good reasons for you to head there this autumn, Christmas and New Year. And none of them involve celebrity-spotting for Premiership footballers (though no-one will blame you if you do).

On Christmas Day itself, Rosso will be welcoming in guests who want to spend their holiday eating, drinking and relaxing rather than battling with a giant bird in the kitchen.

First off is their weekly calendar of free live music. While you sip your cocktails or dive into some first-rate Italian cuisine, you can enjoy short sets of live jazz, swing or blues. Rosso's marble domes and towering ceilings create great acoustics, and the chic styling of the bar and restaurant make it the perfect setting for smooth evening sounds.

Go Sunday to Thursday for a mix of live music from singers Paul Pashley, Alexander Stewart, Russell Shaun, Craig Owen and regular Cole Page. If you want a bar or restaurant with a guaranteed buzz about it, Rosso is for you.

The music will continue in the run-up to Christmas. And from December, the food will turn seasonal with a special Festive Season Lunch to sit alongside the normal a la carte menu.

This is ideal for a sophisticated lunch between shopping, or for a celebration with colleagues or friends. Highlights include fresh mussels, and avocado and crab salad for a starter. Then Entrecote steak in a rich Béarnaise sauce or stuffed turkey crown roasted over caramelized root vegetables for a main. There's traditional Christmas pudding for dessert, or how about warm chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream? It costs £23.50 for three courses plus coffee and biscotti to finish. It's available throughout December between 12.00 – 3.00pm. Busy times will book up – click here to reserve your table.

On Christmas Day itself, Rosso will be welcoming guests who want to spend their holiday eating, drinking and relaxing rather than battling with a giant bird in the kitchen.

They'll be serving a Christmas Day Lunch for a very reasonable price for an afternoon of indulgence in festive surroundings. And there’ll be live music from Russell Shaun to add to the atmosphere.

Starters include home-smoked Gressingham duck salad, and a three layered terrine of natural smoked haddock, Shetland cod and Scottish salmon. Choose between four mains – including free range stuffed and rolled turkey crown, and prime fillet steak. Desserts include traditional Christmas pudding and fresh strawberry pavlova. It's a stunning three course dinner with coffee and biscotti to finish for £60 per person.

Places are limited for Christmas Day lunch. Please click here to reserve your table.

The year ends in style with a New Year's Eve Gala Dinner which could make this your most glamorous Hogmanay yet. A four-course dinner of Rosso's finest food with a magical atmosphere and dancing until late. Live music provided courtesy of Alexander Stewart. The food is the main star of the evening – your choice of starters includes foie gras, hand-dived king scallops, and organic smoked salmon.

For your middle course, your choices include champagne and strawberry sorbet and black truffle pasta. Mains feature heather-reared loin of tender lamb in a Chianti Riserva sauce, and prime fillet of beef flambéed in cognac and veal jus. The desserts maintain the excitement – a trio chocolate tower and panettone bread pudding are amongst the highlights.

Tickets cost £95 and it promises to be a very special night. Click here to reserve your places.
