Heard of Ramsons, up in deepest, darkest Ramsbottom?
It’s one of Gordo’s personal top fives, it was The Good Food Guide’s Restaurant of the Year last year, and is run by some very weird people who deliver absolutely fabulous food. Gordo’s last review can be found here.
Gordo has booked it out on Thursday 28 October and is inviting 35 people to come and have dinner – a seven-course menu put together by himself and his little pal, the mad elf who owns the place, Chris Johnson.
Little Chris, possibly one of the top three Italian wine specialists here in the UK, has picked the wines to go with the meal.
And what a meal:
Amuse Bouche with your glass of (very good) Prosecco
Seared Shetland Scallops, matched with Bucci
Wood Pigeon Breast, matched with Autari (Barbera)
Brown Shrimp (Morecambe Bay) Ravioli, with Boca di Rosa (an Umbrian ‘pink’ that is lovely)
Lyme Park Venison with a Cabernet Sauvignon di Colli de Berici
British Cheese Board selected by Gordo, with a good Late Bottle Vintage Port
It's £79.50 a head all in, including a free coach laid on from Manchester Central at 6.30pm to take you up to Ramsbottom and bring you all back later, so you can have a drink and you don’t have to worry about getting lost.
Schofield is coming to keep you all entertained on t’bus and Gordo is going to do an ‘after dinner speech’ telling (nearly) all about his experience on Come Dine With Me...you will be rolling about laughing.
