SO Maurizio Salvi is at it again...
The new Salvis rosticceria is based on an Neapolitan takeaway and will provide very fresh flavours for eating on-site or for take-away.
Having brought Manchester a wonderfully exact taste of the Campania region of Italy with Salvi's Mozzarella Bar at the Corn Exchange, and more recently on John Dalton Street with Salvi's Cucina, he's now to open a rosticceria also on John Dalton Street.
The rosticceria will operate from the former MUG coffee shop unit
So we asked Maurizio Salvi what exactly a genuine rosticceria was...
So we asked him again and he said:
"The new Salvis rosticceria is based on an Neapolitan takeaway offering fried pizza, arancinas, polpette (meatballs), cannelloni, lasagne, focaccia, Neapolitan panini, paidina, rustici (little fried parcels with hams, ricotta and so on with fillings), calzone fritti, croquettes, zeppole (fried seaweed in batter), pizza, pasta, and lots of specials too. It will provide very fresh flavours for eating on-site or for take-away. Then in the evening it will turn into an Italian aperitivo bar."
The rosticceria will be two doors up from Salvi's Cucina, the two premises separated by an old fashioned photographic shop - the prosciutto in a Salvi's panini so to speak.
The unit was formerly MUG coffeeshop which closed after less than four months of trading.
Salvi's Rosticerria will open in February.

How original, another Italian!
How original, another comment!
Salvi's is Manchester's best Italian, this will be fantastic I know it.
Proper Italian this. Glad to see it's become even more successful. San Carlo can't even compare itself to this place
I know this is a bit off topic, but I wish someone in MCR would open a Chicago style deep pan pizza joint. You know the one, tangy sauce on top and acres of stretchy cheese underneath. I know it's not really Italian but I'm sure it would go down a storm. We're similar to the windy city, supposedly second best but everyone knows we're hipper.
Manchester is nothing like Chicago ha ha ha
I meant as in being regarded as a "second city". But it doesn't matter sweetheart, fuhgeddaboudit.
Wonderful. It's nearly February.
Che bello. Quello che ho sempre voluto vedere a Manchester. Spero che il cibo sia buono e vero.
Doesn't Maurizio have. 'Z' in it?
