Get stamped on for free Guinness

Mulligans travels to Albert Square and dishes out the dark stuff – for nothing more than the price of lost dignity

Get stamped on for free Guinness

This is a mad little promotion.

It's about being stamped on for Guinness.

Guinness fans who may be short of cash this Friday are in for a treat courtesy of Mulligan’s , the Irish pub, on Southgate Street, off Deansgate.

To kick-start Manchester’s Irish Festival, Mulligan’s will be dishing out a free pint of Guinness to visitors at the Mulligan’s marquee in Albert Square between noon and 4pm on Friday 12 March.

The only problem is you have to deface your body. To earn the pint the Guinness bar staff will stamp your forehead with the word ‘Mulligan’s’ in green ink.

Gena Rose, Manager of Mulligan’s Pub, said: “We wanted to celebrate the launch of Manchester’s Irish Festival, which is the largest in Europe, but in a fun way. Forehead advertising is definitely unique and customers will get into the spirit of the festival.”

It certainly is, and is also a nifty way of making sure people know exactly which pub is donating the alcohol.

There's even more generosity on offer as well. Mulligan’s Pub will also be offering a free pint of Guinness and a bowl of Irish stew to any employees of Manchester City Council and the Greater Manchester Police (on production of identification) to thank both institutions for all their hard work in making the 2010 Manchester Irish Festival a reality.

Bless them. Time to dig out that old fancy dress police uniform we think.

So if, like me, you are a Manchester City Council employee AND a former GMP employee AND Irish AND willing to have Mulligan's stamped on your head, can you get free booze all day :-)

Hopefully the Guinness at the tent will be of the same fantastic quality as what you get in Mulligan's itself (best Guiness this side of the Irish Sea).

I can't believe I spelt Guinness wrong in that last post. Obviously too excited about the Irish Festival!

Mulligan's sells more Guinness than any other pub in the northwest - it's no wonder, it's a damn good pint.

I like Mulligans. But I can't stand generic Irish pubs in places such as Nice. I wouldn't like it even if there were English pubs...after all the English invented the pub.
