February listings for Electrik

Help celebrate Electrik’s second birthday with free comedy, Aficionado and Guestrant

Published on February 1st 2011.

February listings for Electrik

Electrik is celebrating its second birthday on 16 February and the whole month seems to be turning into one big celebration. The eatery and bar sees the return of the Shockingly Funny comedy night, the first Aficionado of 2011 and North Star's Deanna Thomas joins them for a Guestrant on Valentine's Night.

Shockingly Funny
Wednesday 9 February

After a successful debut as part of the Manchester Comedy Festival in October last year, the comedy night is returning for an evening of stand up comedy. Chris Brooker will be MCing the event and introducing Jonathan Mayor, Andrew Ryan, Hayley Ellis and Kevin Shevlin to the stage. There’s free entry to the event with doors opening at 7pm ahead of the comedy starting at 9pm.

Aficionado
Sunday 13 February

Chris Duckenfield will be flying the Sheffield flag when he joins Moonboots and Jason Boardman for a Valentine’s Massacre. It's happening from 7pm to midnight. And look out for more Aficionado on 29 May (Bank Holiday Special), 28 August (Bank Holiday Special) and 30 October (Aficionado Witching Hour).

Guestrant with Deanna Thomas
Monday 14 February

As the founder of Chorlton's North Star Deli, Deanna Thomas is very passionate about good food. She worked as a pastry chef for Andrew Nutter before setting up her own catering business. Drawing upon her love of food from many different cultures, Deanna is hoping to create an evening of delicious food this Valentine’s Day. This event is a relaxed, communal thing around shared tables, not a big smooch-fest, so platonics are as welcome as couples.

Tickets cost £25 in advance and the night regularly sells out so it’s best to reserve your place early. If you’re looking for something different to do this Valentine’s Day then from 7.30pm, Electrik is the place to be.

Electrik's Second Birthday Party
Wednesday 16 February

Two-years-old. In bar years, that's about 20, especially on that fated patch of Wilbraham Road where drinking dens come and go as frequently as the buses. Electrik has established itself well with its cheap eats, top cocktails and local ales. On Wednesday 16 February they'll be having a little celebration. Go along to wish them well.

Electrik, 559 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, M21 0AE. 0161 881 3315.
