If you’re looking for inspiration on where to dine out in the days ahead, here’s a reminder of some of our favourites...

Blackdog Ballroom

The bar du jour of Manchester, the place that’s pulling in the punters with a growing reputation for a cracking atmosphere plus good old fashioned classic cocktails, burgers to adore and decent pizzas too.

The louche and lush atmosphere of Manchester bohemians and trend-setters, combined surprisingly with several pool tables, and good music, makes this a must visit dinery and bar.

37-43 Oldham St M1 1JG.

Cord Bar
When Cord first opened it became the hang-out of choice for the city movers and shakers, now refurbished and re-worked it retains its sexy appeal with a more mature style.

The platters, meat, veggie and combined provide excellent grazing food as the chat flows and the drinks disappear.

8 Dorsey Street M4 1LU

Second Floor Restaurant at Harvey Nichols
Chef Stuart Thompson is becoming well known all over the north for his delicacy of cooking, his presentation skills and his creative approach to fine dining. Choose dishes such as Rainbow trout, parsley risotto and smoked macadamia or Confit pork belly, braised pig cheek and seared scallop and you’ll blown away – while also enjoying the view out of the windows down into the heart of Manchester.

21 New Cathedral St 1AD.

Choice
Lovely canal side restaurant in an antique canal side warehouse. Choice sits in central Manchester’s most distinctive district, Castlefield, where museums, Roman ruins and canals come together.

The Modern British cooking is about as good as it gets, full of locally sourced produce.

Castle Quay, Castlefield M15 4NT
