MOST workplaces know the importance of team-building – it gets your people working together, communicating effectively, and thinking creatively, and helps diffuse conflict that can develop when it's all work and no play. And if the team-building is fun – a treat your people will actually appreciate – it's a boost to their morale as well.

It's a way of developing creativity and decision-making skills and getting everyone interacting

The cocktail-making sessions offered by Manchester Leisure Academy (MLA) in central Manchester certainly tick the boxes on the fun part. Nobody's going to look for an excuse to get out of this one. But how does learning to mix a mean Martini enhance your team's skills?

Anton from MLA explains:

“At our team-building sessions, we help your staff develop their problem-solving skills and their team-working skills.

“Our games and exercises include blind taste tests, blind-folded communication races and speed rounds. One of our most popular is the Mystery Box game where your group is divided into two teams and given a box of assorted ingredients to create a drink that excites all the five senses.

“It's a way of getting everyone interacting and thinking creatively, while giving your team a chance to recharge their batteries away from the pressures of the office.”

All MLA's team-building sessions begin with a complimentary cocktail, crafted from fresh ingredients. The rest of the experience is tailored to suit your needs. They'll discuss ideas beforehand to ensure the activities meet your particular objectives, and to incorporate any specific themes you have in mind.

Manchester Leisure Academy has a large space for meetings and presentations, so you can combine the cocktail-making activities with a team update or brainstorming session. And with a fully-stocked bar and expert mixologist at your disposal, you can all stick around for a cocktail or two after the activities are over.
