Christmas at City Inn

City Inn will help you celebrate in style this Christmas with festive menus and an extra-special Christmas Day dinner

Published on September 6th 2010.

Christmas at City Inn

If you're looking for a stylish, contemporary setting for your Christmas celebrations, check out what City Inn has to offer.

You'll have a Christmas tree ready to load with presents, roast turkey expertly cooked and carved, and an iMac entertainment system to watch Christmas Day telly or your newly unwrapped DVDs.

When Jonathan Schofield reviewed its City Café restaurant recently he took issue with a front of house chap asking for his name, but found it hard to fault the food – saying the newish chef Phil Green had given it a major boost and citing 'cleverness and delicacy' as defining features.

The new Celebration menu looks set to keep the standards high. This seasonal menu, which will be launched on 26 November, features starters including Salmon gravadlax, Pressed ham hock terrine and Escabèche of mackerel. The choice of four mains includes Pan-fried Orkney salmon and Roast turkey stuffed with apricot and sage. For dessert you'll have the tricky choice of deciding between traditional Christmas pudding, White and dark chocolate cheesecake and Colston Basset stilton, amongst other fine-sounding options. Click here to peruse the choices. It costs £19.95 per person.

Variations on this menu form the centrepiece of each of the three Christmas celebration options; private dining where groups can book a dining room to themselves (£29.95pp), Join in the Fun Christmas Parties, which bring together lots of groups for dinner and a party (£32.95pp), and the Spirit of Christmas promotion which offers a two course lunch £9.99 or a three course lunch or dinner for £14.95.

Christmas Day at City Inn has its own tempting menu including the traditional roast turkey with family servings of vegetables for that extra helping. Click here to have a look. If you want to really enjoy Christmas rather than spend it at the stove or sink, this is a great option. It costs £55pp.

Those who prefer privacy for their celebrations can book a private room for the day for just £59.50pp. It will be a real home from home – you'll have a Christmas tree ready to load with presents, roast turkey expertly cooked and carved, and an iMac entertainment system to watch Christmas Day telly or your newly unwrapped DVDs. Santa Claus will even make a guest appearance. Christmas Day guests eating in the restaurant can expect him to stop by there as well.

Children under five eat free and under eights are half price for all the Christmas menus except for Spirit of Christmas promotion.

For the ultimate Christmas treat, why not stay overnight? You won't have to worry about taxis or driving and prices start at just £50 per room. Christmas Day without the cooking or washing up, and a beautiful room to return to at the end of it all. Sounds like a winner to us. And If you're not still stuffed from your dinner, you can have a Boxing Day brunch the next morning for £24.95.

Some people are put off from having Christmas at a hotel because they feel it will be impersonal and rushed. We don't think that's likely to happen at City Inn. They take customer care very seriously and will go out of their way to ensure your occasion is memorable. The team there approach Christmas much the same way as they approach the rest of the year – combining excellent service with attention to detail and impressive food.
