Peckforton Castle Gains Three AA Rosettes

PECKFORTON CASTLE, the Cheshire hotel, wedding, conference and events venue, has been awarded their 3rd Rosette for culinary excellence by the AA board.

The Rosettes are awarded for a restaurant's selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients.

This is a good measure of recovery and success following the major arson attack the Castle suffered in the early hours of 19 June 2011. Around 25% of the Castle was damaged and it took a £2.3 million rebuild and restoration project to get it on its feet again.

The Castle was designed by architect Anthony Salvin for John Tollemache in 1840.

Meanwhile the long-established Rosette scheme recognises successful cooking at different levels across the UK. Success or failure in achieving Rosettes is based on one or more visits by an AA inspector to a hotel or restaurant.Peckforton Castle joins an elite 10% of nationwide restaurants that have been bestowed with Three Rosettes and above for their outstanding achievement.

The Rosettes are awarded for a restaurant's selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients.

Other areas that the Castle’s 1851 Restaurant were judged on include the timing, seasoning and the judgment of flavour combinations plus the intuitive service from staff and a well-chosen wine list.

Head Chef of 1851 Restaurant, Mark Ellis said: "The 1851 Restaurant welcomes residents and non residents of the Castle who want to have a sumptuous meal in exquisite surroundings. Gaining a 3rd Rosette is an honour for us and makes us want to continue to strive for even more culinary success in the future."

Astonished at this revelation ......had a really poor experience just recently when my family a party of 8 had Sunday lunch, appalling service and the worst roast potatoes ever. The restaurant space just off reception resembles a store room and the upstairs room lacks any real ambience......would not recommend.
