City Café's Mancunian Menu

Head to City Café for a one-off night of classic Manchester food and music

City Café's Mancunian Menu

Plenty of people would call themselves a fan of Manchester music, but how many would describe themselves as a fan of Manchester food?

After this event at City Inn's City Café, the show of hands for the latter might be a bit bigger. They've put together a special Mancunian Market Menu to celebrate the Manchester Food and Drink Festival's theme of Manchester Icons. And they'll be serving it up alongside classic Manchester tunes performed live by Dave Fidler from Bluebird Kid Clark.

We've seen a sneak preview of the menu and it looks like a good one. 'Yes please' options include Mrs Kirkham's mature cheddar cheese, potato and tarragon pie as a starter, ‘Lobscouse’ shin of Cheshire beef, vegetable broth and barley as a main, and Ginger sponge ‘parkin’, toffee sauce, and clotted cream as a dessert. Click here to see all your options.

They're stretching the boundaries of 'Manchester' a bit (the food to restaurant limit is 50 miles to be exact) but we don't think anyone will be complaining.

While you tuck in, Dave Fidler will play a set list of some of the city's finest musical moments. He's known to City Inn regulars as the guy who plays in the Piccadilly Lounge on Friday nights, but others will know him as the front man of acclaimed local band Bluebird Kid Clark who are releasing their first album this month.

It's going to be a very special night – a one-off opportunity to try locally themed dishes from City Inn's talented chef Phil Green while listening to an up-and-coming singer.

Tables are available between 5pm and 9.30pm. Tickets cost £16.50 per person and include three courses from the Mancunian Market Menu. Booking is essential. To enjoy this fantastic event, contact Philippa on 0161 242 1004 or manchester.admin@cityinn.com.
