SPINNINGFIELDS' latest new opening, Fazenda, welcomed their first guests this weekend as the highly-anticipated Brazilian 'Churrascaria' began its soft launch period before fully opening to the public on Friday 7 November.

Green is go-time for the 'passadores' (meat chefs) who file from the kitchen and float around the tables carrying fifteen different meats.

Fazenda - which also has two successful operations in Leeds and Liverpool - is the latest in a stream of food and drink openings on The Avenue in Spinningfields as it undergoes a transformation following a weak luxury retail performance.

The newly opened 'Churrascaria' (straight from the barbecue) prides itself on large pieces of slowly-grilled meat skewered and cooked over open flames.

Following a trip to the lengthy salad bar packed with cured meats, cheeses, breads, olives, fish, pasta, potatoes, sushi and a must-try Feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew with pork), diners then flip a disc on the table between green (ready for meat) to red (full-up or resting).

Green is go-time for the 'passadores' (meat chefs) who file from the kitchen and float around the tables carrying fifteen different meats, including rump, sirloin, fillet, pork belly, lamb, gammon, fish and delicious little chicken hearts - a delicacy in Brazil.

Weekday lunch time prices start from £17.30, while a Friday or Saturday evening will cost £29.20. Kids eat from £6.70 and vegetarians from £17.30 to £21.90.

Bottles of wine start around the £20 mark and champagne from £40. Fazenda also offer half bottle options and the use of Coravin wine access technology which allows diners to sample premium wines by the glass without having to buy the bottle.

Following a £2m investment to bring the Brazilian concept to Spinningfields, there's been no expense spared on The Avenue's latest food offering, and it shows.

Fazenda boasts a beautifully warm and sumptuous interior and Confidential has no doubt they'll be packing them in on The Avenue.

Fazenda Manchester will fully open in Spinningfields from Friday 7 November. Open seven days a week from midday to midnight (last sitting will be 10pm)

Because the total failure of retail we subjected yet more over priced clone restaurant,with the same over priced cocktail drinks aimed at passing bimbo

If that makes you feel intelligent, then yes. You probably didn't shop at the shop the unit used to house, no one is forcing you to go to the restaurant, so what does it matter to you?

Looking forward to going here - looks very good. Whilst I am not a big meat eater there seems more than enough other choices for me. Unlike my husband who will love playing to his cannibal instincts and trying as many of the meats (pinker the better) as he can. Nice to see something that is not a burger venue.

Last night was a really good evening. Hugely enjoyable as a venue, the offering is indeed top rate and the staff charming. A good addition to Manchester. Anon above is the lamentable product of our policy of free speech I am afraid. However, it also allows me to call him a silly fool.

Went last night. The food was excellent, except for the creme caramel, the service both efficient and friendly, and the Brazilian music playlist authentic and varied.

Went last night. The food was great, the service very good and friendly, music and ambiance fantastic. only down side, to many tables making it very crowded. I had some annoying guy from another party almost sat on my lap.. Will go again.

Went to try it last Sunday and i was happily surprised by the non pretentious service you would expect from this part of town. The waiters were smiling, fast to accommodate and for the first time ever in a restaurant, i was told, when presented with the bill, that the service charge wasn't obligatory. The buffet was in my opinion very good for the asking price. i particularly enjoyed the black beans( they remind me of a good french "cassoulet"). The meat was of very good quality beside an average tasting lamb and an over (a bit more than slightly) salty seasoning of their signatures "picanha" cut. 2 let down out of the 14 cut offered is more than good enough for me. The one annoying bit was to be presented with new cuts every 1-2 minutes. I understand the use of the red/green indicators but we were presented with new cuts way too quickly (sometimes 2 in 30 seconds). The wine offering is refreshingly interesting for the £20/£40 per bottle budget. There are more expensive bottles but this was what we settled for. We paid £150 for 3 including a £30 bottle of wine, 5 pints and 3 calvados. Money well spent.
