Four Kro’s, four ribs but only one winner

The Kro rib off

What makes a good rib? Is it the taste, smell, texture or the fall-off-the-bone-quality? Well for Kro it’s all of the above and to celebrate all things rib, Kro2 hosted the annual Kro Rib Off, a Kro family competition.

Manchester Confidential staff gave the four Kro’s a good ribbing, judging four freshly cooked ribs in the four categories.

It was a close call, but the overall winner was host Kro2 with chef Anthony Walker. Runners up were Kro Bar’s chef Paul Yates, Kro Heaton Moor’s Chef Neil Hollow and Kro Piccadilly’s Chef Danny Moor.

Anthony Walker must have known he was on to a winner when he had to keep providing rib refills for judges who needed to ‘confirm their decision’. Judges scored the ribs between 1 and 5 for aroma, appearance, texture, taste and the all important fall-off-the-bone-quality.

The winning ribs were found to be not only the tastiest, but the most aromatic and of the best consistency, ie. not too sloppy and not too well done. Get down to Kro and judge for yourselves.
