The Alchemist To Open On New York Street

Second venue announced for the Living Ventures bar

Written by . Published on April 4th 2012.

The Alchemist To Open On New York Street

WHEN the Alchemist opened in Spinningfields back in December 2010, Confidential editor Jonathan Schofield, described it as ‘a City of London type bar in Manchester’s City of London type area.’ And so begs the question, how will a second venue be received in Piccadilly?

That’s right, those delectable Maple Manhattans will soon be available on New York Street, Piccadilly. The new venue will be situated just on the corner of New York Street and Moseley Street and has come about due to increasing popularity at the Spinningfields site.

Tim Bacon, Managing Director of Living Ventures said: "We love the Alchemist and feel it will add nicely to another area of Manchester city centre and then hopefully beyond.

“New York Street has a lovely feel to it but perhaps lacks a ‘local’ so the Alchemist will hopefully fill the void. It should be open mid to late June."

But this isn’t just a cocktail bar. Open for morning coffee, lunch and dinner, every care is being taken, once again, to source the finest ingredients in order to create an all round positive experience for customers and with a large outdoor terrace there should be plenty of room for al-fresco dining in the summer months.

All very good, but where is the reporting regarding the closure of Peppermint Bay?

Ha ha yes I thought the same when it happened. Overpriced, over hyped café. Glad it's gone. Even at 50% off it was bad. Grrrrrrrr.

Wouldn't happen to be replacing another Living Ventures site would it?!

Good, but overpriced unless you had the 50% off card. Not much advertising to bring people down there, seemed a bit low profile unless you were in the know...

peppermint ridiculously overpriced for the lunch menu
BUT the new york site is a definate win for the area that lacks a quality work drinks bar, since Kro piccadilly is officially the worst food, drink, service quality bar in manchester

The Grill on New York Street rocks! It's my favourite hide-hole in the city. A grrrrreat all rounder and well worth a sniff, especially at 50% off... http://www.mdog.me

M-DOG is well looking forward to this new opening and new venue for Piccadilly. The Grill on new York street is grrrreat, it'll be top to have 2 Living Ventures venues at the other end of the city... though, MOG has never rated the food at The Alchemist Spinningfields, it's never been up to scratch which is annoying as it's sister restaurants get it spot on (usually). Let's hope the Alchemist New York Street will do much better.

Lacks a local? Coming from the MD of LV, owners of Grill On New York Street? How much more of a fantastic local does New York Street need?
