Laughing Calves Comedy Club

See the finest new female comedy talent at the Frog and Bucket

Published on August 4th 2008.

Laughing Calves Comedy Club

If you think men are naturally funnier than women, this night at the Frog and Bucket could make you reconsider. It's the baby of Laughing Cows Comedy, which runs shows with a female-only line-up on every last Sunday of the month at the Frog. The 'Calves' version will be held every second Sunday and will feature up-and-coming talent rather than established names. However the organisers promise that the jokes will be just as regular, with a show designed to get the audience laughing from start to finish.

Laughing Cows Comedy has been helping to develop women in comedy for ten years now. Led by Hazel O’Keefe, who ran London's Laughing Cows night at full capacity for over two years, it has a reputation for showcasing award-winning comediennes. Television comics such as Gina Yashere and Jo Caulfield have featured, alongside new names yet to be discovered by mainstream audiences.

Manchester's Laughing Calves night is on Sunday 10 August at the Frog and Bucket, 102 Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are £4 or £3 and can be bought from www.frogandbucket.co.uk or by calling 0161 236 9805.
