Help Break A Poker World Record

Take part in a record-breaking poker marathon in aid of Help For Heroes

Help Break A Poker World Record

A Manchester poker player will attempt a record-breaking 115-hour poker marathon in aid of Help For Heroes this summer. And he's looking for poker players to compete against during the five-day endeavour.

Barry Denson, Manchester representative of The Nuts Poker League, has joined forces with Help For Heroes, in a fundraising effort to smash the world record in 'Longest Marathon Playing Poker By An Individual'.

The existing record of 115 hours was set by professional poker player Phil Laak at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas in 2010. Guinness World Records allow a five minute break every hour, and these can be banked for longer breaks.

“Being an ex-Territorial Army soldier myself, I am please to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause,” Barry explained.

“One of the biggest challenges will be finding enough players to play me. Guinness World Records will only allow other players to play for up to four hours at a time so we need as many players as possible to come along and take part, especially in the early hours or the mornings.”

The five-day event will take place at G Casino, Bury New Road, Manchester from midnight on Sunday 1 July 2012. Poker players are invited to play for up to four hours, or just come along and watch. Donations can be given at www.justgiving.com/poker-marathon or by texting UKKT95 to 70070.
