A Mancunian affair alright, this years Versus Cancer gig is set to bring all the city favourites together along with some overseas offerings for this special event at the MEN Arena.
The Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets are geared up to provide some of the local indie flavour that Versus Cancer is famous for. Fresh from their major comeback in 2007, the Mondays are set to treat the Arena crowd to some of their greatest hits as well as one-off collaborations. The Fratelli’s and New York’s finest, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, also be amongst the acts playing at the gig.
Back for the third year running on Saturday 23 February, the concert is again set to create a little bit of musical history… and more big name announcements are also promised.
The Versus Cancer concert will be The Fratelli’s first gig in Manchester for almost a year. The band had a mammoth 2007 with sold out Manchester shows, acclaimed festival performances and a Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act.
The Fun Lovin’ Criminals will bring an international slant to the bill. The band, which first formed in 1993, have become legends of the music scene and now nearly 15 years on, and 9 albums later, they’re set to take to the stage of the MEN Arena with some exciting one off collaborations with the Happy Mondays.
The charity, which raises money for cancer research, awareness and support groups are hoping to hit their £1m target this year, and the February gig marks the first of their 2008 programme of events.
Tickets for the concert are on sale priced £40, with all proceeds going to fight cancer. Click here to get your tickets.
