Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess is hosting a charity music event at the Salford Lads’ Club later this month.
Burgess and fellow band member Mark Burgess will also be performing during at the special gig, which takes place on October 20. Money raised from ticket sales will go towards keeping the club open.
Factory Floor, Hatcham Social and The Heartbreaks will also be playing live at the event, run in conjunction with clothing retailer TopMan. Burgess and New Order’s Stephen Morris will also be playing DJ sets.
“I’m really pleased to have put together and be part of such an inspiring line up,” said Burgess. “It’s important that Salford keeps the Lads’ Club running for another 100 years."
Leslie Holmes, project manager at Salford Lads’ Club said: “Wednesday nights at Salford Lads’ Club usually involves the pounding of punch bags and the whack of footballs - but we’ll gladly hold fire to welcome Tim and team for a very special evening. It’s going to be a unique event and we’d like to thank Topman for bringing this all together.”
Music photographer Stephen Wright - who captured The Smiths outside Salford Lads’ Club in 1985 - will also be at the event, giving music fans the chance to recreate the iconic image.
