AT the end of June in Heaton Park more than 225,000 people will be going for a party with the Stone Roses.
It's full of revelations too for those who really want to get under the skin of one of the greatest UK bands.
In fact the party has already started with a thousand people swooning over the boys at the surprise gig in Warrington on 23 May. People interviewed on Radio 5 were screaming, "It's the best day of my life, the Stone Roses are the greatest band ever. I was there!"
At Confidential we feel the love. The editor, a Blue Badge Guide, has taken Roses fans around who've wept for the love of the group everywhere the tour has taken them.
So because of the epoch-defining nature of the band we've got involved in all the excitement.
Next week we'll be running an interview with Simon Spence who's just written 'The Stone Roses, War and Peace'. This is the 'definitive' Roses history and has been made BBC's 6music book of the week. Spence has form with these publications, having worked on the best Rolling Stones books, Stoned and 2Stoned.
Spence in the Spinningfields sunshine
We're also going to be running four extracts never before published from the book, of material that for space reasons, couldn't be included.
We're also giving five signed editions away.
And that's happening now.
The research from Spence was exhaustive with over 400 hours of interviews. It's a lively read, good for the general reader as well as the fans. It's full of revelations too for those who really want to get under the skin of one of the greatest UK bands.

No rant, just keeping my fingers massively crossed for the Stone Roses comp - my boyfriend is a massive fan, and has been since they first came on the scene, he would be stoked to get a signed book!! Sam
My rant is why did they not do the gig in Oldham or Manchester so I could have got there by bus?
Carol Ryan..... If you get to Oldham, jump on the 59 Bus heading to M/cr, & it takes you to Heaton Park.
No Probs !
Cheers for the info, Bill
