Do you work better with a bit of music? For some a bit of background rhythm is highly offputting. For others it's a welcome distraction.
But if traditional radio stations, national and local, bore you to death, even more than your own CD collection and you have no time to be fiddling with playlist websites, there is an alternative where someone has done the thinking for you.
Yes, the musical podcast is ever on the rise.
Like anything, it takes discipline and skill to execute properly. Here in Liverpool there are plenty already. Take this weekly podcast, The Sound of Music. which is coming up to its first anniversary and attracting a heap of regular listeners “where the happy people go”.
It is nothing to do with Julie Andrews but is 85 minutes of widely varying tracks collated into a loose theme in each episode. Punctuated by a bit of talk from Bernie Connor, a well known face for many years on the city's music radar, it is a bit of different.
Listen to last week's episode, #47, titled I Dreamed a Dream (here), minimise the window and forget about it. Or burn it and go for a drive.
Alternatively, visit the Sound of Music site here for the most up to date episode and 46 more.
If you have a deecent podcast that you think deserves a wider audience, contact editorial@liverpoolconfidential and we might feature it.
