Burlesque meets Grime this Christmas as Contact’s Young Actors Company (CYAC) give a seasonal offering you won’t find after the Queen’s speech.
Don’t come wanting panto, Christmas at Contact is all set to go a bit wrong. With stockings, ice, and snowstorms in Martini glasses, this is a very twisted Christmas.
Following extensive contemporary burlesque workshops with Belle Besame, and on-going sessions with Grime artist Fallacy, this years CYAC team have incorporated these two underground cultures into a new piece of devised theatre. The result will be a totally original (and totally unlikely) pairing that strives to tell the truth behind old fashioned Christmas fairytales.
Showing from 8pm on Thu 13-Sat 15 Dec, the show will include aerial choreography, MCs, contortionists, and eclectic dancers alongside Manchester DJ, Chimpo, playing chop ‘n’ screw (that’s remixed and slowed down) versions of Christmas music favourites. Watch as the pleasant family party rapidly goes awry. Should you laugh?
Mistletoe and Grime is Contact’s offering to an unsuspecting Christmas market. Aimed at a young and diverse audience, it will provide the entertainment solution for the age group that has outgrown Cinderella. For more information please visit www.contact-theatre.org
