Tickets are now on sale for Live from Jodrell Bank, a new series of outdoor music events from the team behind The Warehouse Project and Kendal Calling and Ear to the Ground.
The event, which takes place on July 1 and 2, will be headlined by Grammy award-winning The Flaming Lips, cult British rockers British Sea Power, Chicago’s inventive OK Go and the sultry Alice Gold, all performing in the shadow of the towering Lovell Telescope.
The telescope is already fixed in music history, when it was used to catch the echo of Doves’ guitar riff used in their track ‘Space Face’, which had been bounced off the Moon. The telescope will also be serving as a huge projection screen during the two-day event, which will also feature experiments and workshops, with free access to the newly redeveloped visitor centre.
Saturday’s ‘Transmission 001’ features The Flaming Lips, famed for their elaborate live shows, and British Sea Power’s epic rock music.
Kendal Calling co-promoter Andy Smith comments, “We're a big fan of the unusual and the unique and by combining the incredible venue of Jodrell Bank and an amazing live performance by The Flaming Lips, this is going to undoubtedly be one of their most memorable shows.
“British Sea Power and OKGO are the perfect accompaniment -atmospheric and thrilling performances in equal measure.”
