What’s on this month at the Academy, O2 Apollo, MEN arena and more

February gigs round-up

February looks set to be a busy month for live music in Manchester. Band of Horses (£16.50) kick things off on Tuesday 1 February at The Academy, with Angels and Airwaves (£17.50) playing the same venue the following night.

The NME Awards Tour (from £18) will be in Academy 1 on both Friday 4 and Saturday 5 February, Hurts (£14) take to the stage on Tuesday 8 February, Feeder (£20) on Sunday 13 February and the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Tour (£16) comes into town on Tuesday 15 February.

The Academy will house both Shaun Ryder (£18.50) and The Go! Team (£12) on Saturday 19 February, with the latter playing in the more intimate Academy 2. The end of February sees a flurry of singer-songwriters in the venue with Darwin Deez (£10) at Academy 2 on Thursday 24, KT Tunstall (£20) on Friday 25 and Janelle Monae (£16.50) on Monday 28.

The MEN Arena has three big names gracing the stage this month: My Chemical Romance (£26.50) on Friday 18, Usher (from £40) on Sunday 20 and Ne-Yo (from £36) on Friday 25.

Shaun Ryder at the Academy

Alexandra Burke (from £30) will be playing at the O2 Apollo on both Friday 4 and Saturday 5 with fellow pop artists The Saturdays (£24) and Tinie Tempah (16.50) on Thursday 10 and Wednesday 19 respectively. Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles (£23.50) are sharing the bill on Friday 21, James Blunt (£29.50) on Sunday 23 and American singer-songwriter Ben Folds (£25) on Monday 24. The following two nights (Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26) see the Apollo play host to Jason Derulo (£24) before the month draws to a close.

Elsewhere in the city, LA quintet GroupLove will be at The Ruby Lounge on Sunday 6 (£6), James Blake (£8) is set to play at Band on the Wall on Wednesday 26, British Sea Power (£13.79) head to The Ritz on Tuesday 15 and Miles Kane (£7.50) will be at The Deaf Institute on Monday 24.
