ELBOW To Headline Kendal Calling 2015

MANCHESTER's indie old-timers Elbow and hip-hops everywhere-man Snoop Dogg will headline this year's Kendal Calling festival (30 July - 2 August).

"I think it’s fair to say this year’s line-up is going to take some beating"

The Lake District festival - held 100 miles north of Manchester in Penrith's 300-acre Lowther Deer Park - have announced more headliners including: rock veterans James, the resurgent Kaiser Chiefs, radio-darlings The Vaccines and Irish stadium rockers Kodaline.

Celebrating its tenth birthday, other main stage highlights include: Mercury Award nominee Nick Muvley, The Horrors, Brit-Award winning Ella Eyre, political bard Billy Bragg, British Sea Power, Bipolar Sunshine, Mr Scruff, Soul II Soul, Levellers and Embrace.

Though Kendal Calling - winners of the 'Best Small Festival' in 2010 and 2011 and 'Best Medium Festival' 2013 - is renowned as much for its warm atmosphere as its music.

Set in idyllic country surrounds, the festival includes four days of art installations, beer tents, acoustic sheds and kid's stuff - so bring the nippers, eh?

Commentating on their tenth anniversary, festival founder Andy Smith said:

"Since its humble beginnings as an teensy-eensy one and a half stage festival held in the grounds of a town centre art gallery back in 2006 to its current home spread across the stunning 300 acre Lowther Deer Park, home to our twelve stages (and more to come), it’s been an incredible journey.

"I think it’s fair to say this year’s line-up is going to take some beating though with an expanded festival seeing five headliners over 4 days and an eclectic spread across all stages, but the real beauty is in the atmosphere of the audience and that's what it's really about at Kendal’.
