Al Jarreau - Greatest Hits Tour @ The Bridgewater Hall
Time: 7pm
Music: Jazz / Soul / Funk / R&B
Price: £24.50 - £34.50
The word ‘legend’ is often uttered with an ounce of disregard to its true definition, but Al Jarreau would have no problems shouldering this well-deserved title. Time Magazine referred to him as “the greatest jazz singer alive” which ruling out the deceased means he isn’t too shabby.
This man is coined as ‘the giant of American popular music’, not due to his over average height, but the fact he is the only vocalist to win Grammy Awards in three different genres (jazz, pop and R&B). Rumour has it he had to have a mantelpiece extension in 2007 after picking up his seventh Grammy.
As part of the Manchester Jazz Festival, Al Jarreau will grace the stage at The Bridgewater Hall armed with four decades of performing experience, a voice which could melt your soul and a full backing band.
The show will embark upon his best known classics such as ‘We’re in this love together’, ‘Mornin’ and my personal favourite ‘Boogie down’. The reviews of his performance in London are nestling in the ‘rave’ category and it’s looking like an event not to be missed.
