BOTW gets support for African music

Band on the Wall has just announced a sponsorship deal for their renowned African music programme.

Ethical investment firm The Gaeia Partnership will support the programme, allowing Band on the Wall to continue deliver this critically acclaimed series of international music.

African artists already confirmed to play at Band on the Wall include a rare Manchester performance by the inventor of Ethio-Jazz, Mulatu Astatke, whose tracks have recently been sampled by Nas and Damian Marley and K’Naan. The respected Ethiopian composer will perform on Tuesday 15 March with tickets available through Band on the Wall’s website. Click here for tickets.

A spokesperson for Gaeia said, “We are delighted to sponsor the African concerts at Band on the Wall at a time when African music is experiencing a creative renaissance and speaks to us, whatever our culture and background."

Gaeia has had a presence in Manchester for 20 years and believes that it understands the practical needs of music makers as well as fans of live music.

As a registered charity run on a not-for-profit basis, Gaeia chose to support Band on the Wall because it fits their ethical ethos.
