Whilst ‘big’ Faye has been busy taking the plaudits for her articles on health related matters (watch out for her forthcoming column, ‘What’s in my lunchbox?’), we also have another Faye in the office, a keen and willing worker, eager to break into the reviewing arena.
Affectionately known as ‘Young’, the baby of the bunch’s 18+ rated lapdancing performance at Tribeca for Gordo’s birthday the other night has already proved she has a number of talents, so it was off to Thirsty Thursday with pen in hand, pad in pocket and camera round her neck for a mouthwatering night of women’s business development……

As this was my first time to Thirsty Thursday, or to anything like this in fact, I took my friend Vicky along with me to Harvey Nichols for some moral support. We were greeted with a vast quantity of complimentary drinks courtesy of Poppy the waitress who went to great lengths to make sure our glasses were never empty. A couple of drinks and we soon relaxed and settled into the evening’s proceedings.
After half an hour of mingling with all the other women, we headed off to a talk given by the head of Harvey Nichols’ Personal Shopping department. She talked about all the new trends and must-haves for this season, which included a nautical theme, the ‘boho’ look, and a safari look. All the looks were modeled by a gorgeous model called Kate, who carried off the clothes beautifully.
After a few more glasses of wine, we headed downstairs to the Beauty department. It was extremely busy with consultations, makeovers, complimentary massages stretching as far as the eye could see. On top of this, there were lots of freebies and even teeth whitening from stores such as Chanel, Lanĉome, YSL, all providing something for everyone.
We decided that seeing as Vicky had come along with me, she should be the one to get treated to a makeover. We chose Sue Devitt studio, where a lovely make-up artist called Abi transformed Vicky into a dazzling vision of beauty (not that she wasn’t anyway!). She used a dark blue smouldering look on the eyes and a pretty pink lip gloss which surprisingly really complemented each other.
After spending a high proportion of the night in or round the beauty department, the night came to an end so we left with a hoard of information and a head full of ideas and beauty information, enough to keep us going until the summer at least!
The night was a resounding success in our book and our thirst was most definitely quenched. Organisers Emma and Mel have pulled off something of a coup with the Thirsty Thursday nights, the numbers turning up for the gatherings of information and advice prove this with the social occasions really developing their own little community of successful women and women who want to be successful.
Thursdays will never be the same again!
