World Cup Fever Hits Sam's

This month sees the start of the biggest event on the football calendar. One of the most important sporting events in the world will in a few weeks take over the minds and souls of the men, women and children of Manchester. Pulses will quicken. Palms will sweat. That’s right. It’s what you’ve all been waiting for. This month sees the start of Sam’s Chophouse’s Table Football World Cup.

This event will be great fun. Offering an opportunity for you and a colleague to take on the best players in the corporate world. Sam's will be offering ice cold Becks Vier the official beer of Sam's World Cup and plenty of food to eat whilst playing.

The competition will kick off with a drawer night at Sam’s, on 25th May between 5.30 and 6.00pm at Sam's where teams will be picked out of a hat to play each other at Table Football. No doubt nerves will be running high at this very serious and tense event, so Sam’s will be providing "Sam's canapé's" otherwise known as "Eclectic Microcosoms of Modern British Classic Nibbles" to prevent competitors and spectators alike from chewing their fingernails to the bone.

The competition is open to any Manchester companies who think that their employees could benefit from channelling their football fever into something more productive than kicking a scrunched up piece of paper around the office, while you-know-what is going on over in Germany.

After the final on Friday 7th July, the winners will receive a Table Football table courtesy of Nationwide, plus Sam’s very own World Cup Trophy (Jules Rimet who?) that will take pride of place at Sam’s, proudly sporting the winning team’s company plaque for the rest of the year.

The criterion for entry is simple. Each team should consist of two people, but a company can enter as many teams as they choose, so you can go head to head with your colleagues. There’s nothing like a bit of competitive sportsmanship to really make the atmosphere in your office that little bit more interesting.

For those of you that need the practice, there will be tables to practice on, from the 25th May inside Sam's.

The tournament will commence on the 1st June and each team will be able to arrange their own time and day with their opponent directly. You will also receive a complimentary pint of Beck's for each round you play.

The Final's will be on the 7th July 2006.

The entry fee for this event is £30, with a proportion going to charity.
