What’s up at The Ritz

Bank Holiday weekend, June and July at the Ritz

Published on May 27th 2010.

What’s up at The Ritz

The Ritz is a 1300 capacity nightclub and live music venue on Whitworth Street, a great Manchester institution with a historic place in the city's night-life.

Every Wednesday sees the notorious Love Train 70s disco night, which recently celebrated its 17th Birthday.

Every Saturday sees Dirty Stop Out, Manchester's biggest weekend student party, playing the biggest Student Anthems, Party, Dance, Indie, Electro House & R'n'B. As well as these weekly crowd-pleasers, The Ritz also hosts a variety of events covering all musical (and some non-musical) bases.

Over the Bank Holiday weekend Federation returns to The Ritz on Sunday 30 May with their out of this world event Planet Fed, featuring DJs Gregg Holden, Jason Guy & Nik Denton alongside dancing robots, cyborg drag, etc.

Band of Horses

Then Bank Holiday Monday itself on May 31 sees the return of the Monday night rock night to The Ritz with JD Dislexic and DJ Mikee Diablo playing metal, rock, pop punk, emo, ska, crossover, hardcore and metalcore. If successful this night will herald the return of the weekly Monday night rock night from September 2010 onwards.

Tuesday 8 June sees a live show from American rock band Band Of Horses touring to promote their new album Infinite Arms and fresh from supporting Pearl Jam and Snow Patrol on their recent shows. Catch them in a venue this size before they get all stadium on us.

July sees another side to the venue, with the Ultimate Cage Championships ‘Manchester Mayhem’ on July 23, where you can see mixed martial arts being performed by the finest fighters in the North of England, and the electric atmosphere is guaranteed to leave you on the edge of your seat.
