Un-Convention Manchester

MANCHESTER based cultural enterprise Un-Convention is to host a three-part festival from 9-11 November at various locations around the city.

The aim is to celebrate football, music and food and the three days will include appearances from star footballers, DJs and live acts plus international cuisine for all.

Un-Convention Football – The National Football Museum

Friday 9 November - Free

Un-Convention Football will include talks, panels, exhibitions, live music and more. This free event is an opportunity for the public to interact directly with footballing legends such as Pat Nevin and Patrick Vieira and representatives from key football organisations such as the City In The Community, The Manchester United Foundation, Manchester Football Association, FC United, Football Against Racism, the Football Supporters Federation and many others. The Whip, Franco and the Dreadnoughts will also be performing live.

Un-Convention 10.11.12 – Venues across Hulme

Saturday 10 November – Daytime free/ Night events £5

Un-Convention 10.11.12 will explore Moss Side and Hulme’s influence on the Manchester dance music scene. From Dogs of Heaven, Kelzo and Doodlebug to the local Punk, Party, Reggae, DIY, Rhyme and Dance culture, it’s a chance to witness the highly creative output of Moss Side and Hulme and its ultimate impact on the world. Honeyfeet, The Autonomads, Extra Love, Mike Mayhew, Al Baker and others are set to kick off daytime festivities. By night, various venues around Hulme will host some of the most exciting DJs, bands and performers from the area’s past and present, including Skittles, Mouse Outfit, Graham Massey, Chris Jam, Unabombers, DJ Krust, Fingathing and Bohemian Grove. Daytime tickets are free through registration and a £5 wristband is required for night time gigs

Un-Convention Upstairs on The Curry Mile – Antwerp Mansion and Venues across Rusholme’s Curry Mile

Sunday 11 November - Free

This final date on Un-Convention’s trilogy of Manchester events, Upstairs on the Curry Mile takes place from noon until 1am on Sunday, 11 November. Featuring talks from keynote speakers, traditional and contemporary music, food, film, workshops and DJ sets celebrating Asian and Middle Eastern culture, this cultural extravaganza  aims to delight all the senses. Involving some of Manchester’s most exciting new promoters and leading Asian Music industry experts, expect to hear music from the likes of Bobby Friction (Radio 1), Symbiz (Berlin), Martina Topley-Bird, MCs Metz and Trix, Punjabi Hitsquad and Satellite State Disko.
