U-U-U-Utah Saints join big name line up

Published on January 4th 2006.

The latest band to join the big name line up for the forthcoming Manchester versus Cancer charity gig on 28 January, 2006, has been announced.

90s anthem kings The U-U-U-Utah Saints will be joining the likes of New Order, Badly Drawn Boy, Mani, Doves and Stephen Fretwell on stage at the MEN Arena.

Former members of the Smiths, bassist (and gig organiser) Andy Rourke and Johnny Marr have already announced that they’ll perform together publicly for the first time since the Smiths split in 1988.

Andy Rourke said: "We keep adding to the gig line-up and the inclusion of Utah Saints shows just how much stock musicians put in this event and what it can do to increase awareness of cancer and raise funds for important research. Manchester versus Cancer is delighted that they will be playing at the event.

"The line up's becoming one of the best I've ever seen and with so many friends joining in, it's becoming even better than we imagined.

With more names being added to the list almost every day, the gig is hoping to be the biggest charity concert seen in Manchester and is aiming to raise £1 million for Manchester’s Christie Hospital.

Tickets for the eagerly awaited event are now on sale via ticketmaster on 0870 190 8000 or via www.ticketmaster.co.uk and are priced from £40. For more information visit www.manchestervcancer.co.uk.
