Twist your Melon with Bez!

Twist your Melon with Bez!

If you wander past Albert Square this Wednesday lunchtime, you may well be forgiven for thinking that you've happened upon some kind of mad alternate dimension, with masses of people jumping around and shaking maracas. But take a closer look, and at the head of proceedings you'll see a familiar face as chief crazy person - Bez from the Happy Mondays.

To celebrate their first day on Manchester's airwaves, Xfm are holding a Bezathon in Albert Square at 12.45pm, and attempting to set a new world record. Everyone is welcome to join in the madness and shake their maracas with Bez to 'Step On', which will be blaring from speakers around the square.

If you want to join the crazy people of Manchester in this record attempt then all you need to do is get yourself down to Albert Square by 12pm to register and pick up your maracas and Xfm beanie hat.

Joining Bez on the day will be members of his new band Domino Bones, Xfm Manchester DJs, and an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records. About the event, Bez articulated "Me and Domino Bones are dead chuffed to be part of the Xfm launch, it's another excuse for Manchester's finest to get together and summit worthwhile for the city. We can't wait, it's gonna be massive."

So whether you want to join in the record attempt yourself (and let's face it, why wouldn't you!) or just come down to Albert Square to see what a crowd of people jumping around with maracas looks like, the Bezathon will be an event that any self respecting Mancunion will want to be part of. And with that in mind, the Manchester Confidential team will be there in force, shaking their stuff with the best of them. Watch this space for pictures and feedback from the day!

Bezathon, Wednesday 15th March, Albert Square, 12.45pm (registration at 12pm)
