Top bands and extreme sports at Spinningfields

The programme of free entertainment at Spinningfields reaches an impressive finale over the next two weeks. Top Manchester bands will perform there over the bank holiday weekend, and an 'adrenaline playground' will be launched in Hardman Square this Saturday.

The playground will include a surf simulator, a 26ft climbing wall and a bungee trampoline. Activities cost £2.50 a go, and they'll be open from 10am to 6pm every day between 16 August and 31 August.

Over the bank holiday weekend, there'll be two days of music, culminating in a concert headlined by I Am Kloot on Sunday evening.

On Saturday 23 August, Key 103's Mike and Chelsea from Toolan in the Morning will be hosting an event in Spinningfields from 2pm-4pm. Singer Nia Jai, signed to Rio Ferdinand’s White Chalk Music label, will be one of the acts performing.

On Sunday 24 August, an excellent line-up of local bands including It's A Buffalo, The Travelling Band, The Mekkits and Bluebird Kid Clark will play, with I Am Kloot topping the bill. The music starts at 4pm. Entry to events on both days is free.

You can get to Spinningfields from Deansgate, Bridge Street or Quay Street. The stage is located on the banks of the River Irwell at the end of Hardman Boulevard.
