Gordo first met Tony the Tailor about five years ago. Tony actually is a tailor, not a gangster. He has a huge number of premiership footballers and assorted managerial types, including Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson on his books. Gordo recounted his last experience with a bespoke tailor, Tommy Nutter.

Gordo had made an obscene amount of money re-publishing a cook book by Arabella Boxer, an absolute honey of a woman. It was a lifetime’s ambition to get a suit built by this giant of a tailor who was a household name in the sixties, seventies and eighties. In the end, Gordo had two built, and spent nearly three thousand quid for the pleasure, a fair old bundle today, let alone then. On his way to Paris on business, Gordo ran in the shop, picked the finished suits up on Saville Row without time to try them on and shot to the airport, late as usual.

He changed into one of the suits on the plane and walked into his Architects office on Rue du Fauborg St. Honore. The secretaries looked at Gordo and remarked how English Gordo appeared today. The Architect remarked as well; something along the lines of how English tailors were very different to French and Italians.

When Gordo got back to the hotel and had a good look in the mirror, he realised that he looked a complete knob. Mr. Nutter had managed to turn him from a hippo into an Elephant. Gordo was rather hoping that at fifteen hundred quid a pop he would have the look of a Gazelle. Oh well. The suits never really got worn.

Having listened to Gordo’s tale of woe Tony the Tailor offered to make a couple that would he would be happy with. OK then. And in all fairness, he built two blinders, both which actually look better today than they did when he delivered them fives years ago. They feel as good to wear as they looked. Gordo is no candidate for a male model, but to be honest there is something about these suits that make him feel like the gazelle he wanted to at Tommy Nutters all those years ago.

Recently, Tony has launched a brand call Q’Aja, a strange name but a well known one amongst the sports community. 2MMedia, ManchesterConfidential.com’s parent company have built the new Q’Aja web site. On Tony’s last visit to the offices, Gordo had a coffee with Tony, asking him if he still does bespoke tailoring for men other than footballers; some of the cloths and designs Gordo had seen on the site really weren’t right for us normal mortals.

Tony explained that whilst he makes a fuss on the site of guys like Ian Wright, he looks after literally hundreds of professionals and businessmen, that they are the backbone of the business. He visits them at their offices with the cloths, measures them up and comes back for the final fitting, to check for any final nips and tucks.

Spotting an opportunity for the ManchesterConfidential.com readers, Gordo twists his arm and does a deal. If Tony will commit to coming to Manchester, he will tell the ManchesterConfidential.com readers about him, as long as he comes up with a stunning introductory deal for them. So here it is!
  1. Tony will design and tailor a suit for us for £695. That’s nearly £300 off the normal price.
  2. The First 20 people to apply picked out of the hat will get ONE SUIT FREE in the same range of cloth. That’s two tailor made suits for £695.
  3. Tony will see the lucky people a week on Sunday, the 27th of November, or Monday the 28th of November in the centre of Manchester.
