Music – Paul Weller Live From Jodrell Bank 

Modfather Paul Weller is headlining Live From Jodrell Bank’s Transmission 003 on Sunday 24 June. Special guests will also include Graham Coxon and Gomez. The show starts at 2pm and tickets cost £39.20 (inc. booking fee) for general admission. However you can get yours for the discounted price of £25 plus booking fee by clicking here

Sport – Olympic Torch Relay

Olympics fever has caught on in Britain and you can witness the Olympic Torch’s arrival in Manchester this weekend. There will be a celebration at Albert Square from 3pm onwards on Saturday 23 June. The following day, the Olympic Torch heads to Old Trafford at approximately 6.15am.  In celebration of this, Lancashire Cricket Club will stage ‘Good Morning Trafford’, a series of events and activities on offer from 6am – noon .  For more details of the Olympic Torch relay route see click here.

Culture – Cider and Perry Festival

The Greater Manchester branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is holding a Cider and Perry Festival in the Palace Hotel from noon onwards on Friday and Saturday this weekend. There are over 40 traditional ciders and perries to choose from. Plus, there are soft drinks and food are available all day. Admission of £3 is payable on the door, £2 for CAMRA members. Music – Whole Lotta Led

The timeless Led Zeppelin may have been and gone but tribute act Whole Lotta Led seek to recreate some classic hits at the Ruby Lounge this weekend. One of the most well known and respected tribute acts, tickets can be bought on Ticketline here from £11 each.

Art – Love Architecture Festival 2012

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), as part of the Love Architecture Festival 2012, is holding several events in the Manchester area over the weekend.  This includes a tour of the new home for Chetham’s School of Music and an informal workshop for amateur artists keen on developing their prospective drawing. Sport – Lancashire Cricket Club

The newly revamped Old Trafford Cricket ground is hosting a number of fixtures in the summer, including County Championship and Twenty20 matches. Art - Lumiere 2012 Photography Exhibition

This Friday you can visit the Lumiere 2012 Photography Exhibition at 2022NQ, a creative space located on Little Lever Steet in the Northern Quarter. Free entry, plus drinks and music; the exhibition opens from 7pm till late. For more details see www.facebook.com/Lumiere2012

Entertainment – The Comedy Store

If you’re looking for laughter this weekend go no further than the Comedy Store. The famous comedy club is staging the first ever UK National Laughter Festival, with a Laughter Conference on Friday and the National Laughter Championships on Saturday. For more details click here.

Entertainment – Ghost Tour

Discover the dark and mysterious side of Manchester this weekend courtesy of Jonathan Schofield and his Haunted Underworld Tour. If you think you’re brave enough, tours start in St Ann’s Square every Thursday and Friday at 5.30pm and every Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Tours cost £8 each, and more details can be found here.

Art - We Face Forward

We Face Forward is a city-wide exhibition of contemporary West African art. There are numerous displays and events on offer until the 16th September at several galleries including Manchester Art Gallery, Whitworth Art Gallery and The Gallery of Costume at Platt Hall.
