What better way to get yourself feeling summery than piling up the ‘palomitas’(that’s popcorn for those whose Spanish is a bit rusty) and heading down to the ¡Viva! Spanish and Latin Film Festival this month.
For ten days only, rainy Manchester is becoming the Med as the ¡Viva! Spanish and Latin American Film Festival returns to the Cornerhouse. Now in its 13th year, the festival showcases up to 100 of the best Hispanic films and documentaries.
The Cornerhouse is set to become the centre of Hispanic life in Manchester, a place where audiences can meet filmmakers and actors participating in panel discussions and Q & As. Over the years, the festival has raised the profile of Hispanic talents, including the UK distribution of Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) by Alejandro Amenabar, later re-made as the well-known Vanilla Sky starring Penelope Cruz.
The ten action-packed days and nights of Hispanic film start from between March 15 and run until March 25. For more information visit www.vivafilmfestival.com
