Five bars with cocktails, tastings and divine food in each – who's coming?

Join us on the Confidential Vodka Trail

THE Confidential series of spirit and cocktail trails by The Liquorists continues next month with the start of The Vodka Trail. For the uninitiated, these nights out combine tasting sessions and cocktails with divine food in some of the city centre's most individual bars. For a mid-week mood-lifter, they're one of our favourites.

The trails are a sophisticated evening of drinking and dining, with the merest hint of the bar crawl about them. In each bar, you're served an exquisite sample of a fine spirit and an eye-opening, bespoke cocktail, alongside a hand-crafted, specially-selected food pairing. You're transported from one bar to the next in a minibus, and the night ends with a feast of a meal in the last venue.

On the recent Whisky Trail, food pairings included included baked pear wrapped in parma ham with balsamic and parmesan, a canapé of smoked mackerel, radish, carrot and sherry vinegar dressed leaf, and a square of 80% cocoa chocolate. The final feast was haggis, neeps and tatties with an Aberfeldy 12-year-old whisky cream, followed by raspberry cranachan with a sweet highland single malt.

Followupmap[2]Expect food similarly well matched with vodka on this one. They post the recipes for the cocktails and the food on their website after the event so you can try to recreate the magic at home.

Brands confirmed include Absolut, Belvedere, Cariel, Finlandia and Grey Goose.

And throughout, you have the nice chaps from The Liquorists sharing their drinks expertise – nothing dull – just enlightening tidbits and tasting tips.

All in all, it's a fantastic way to wile away an evening. Relaxed, sociable, educational, and here's the best bit, excellent value for money.

The food and drink you consume is worth £125 but tickets are just £35. An absolute boozy, foodie bargain.

The Vodka Trail, subtitled, 'from decadent to disco...and back again' will introduce you to high-end brands, revelatory cocktails, and beautiful food, with no expense spared. The bars on this tour are a stellar collection: Blackdog Ballroom, Obsidian, Epernay, Hula Bar and Socio Rehab.

The night begins in Socio Rehab at 6pm and you arrive at the last bar, Obsidian, for the final tasting and the meal at 9pm.

The tours take place on 27th October and 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th November. Places are limited on each tour so book now.

Treat yourself to a night out of first-class drinks and food with a nice crowd of people. Buy your tickets here.
