It began with a small group of Northern Quarter residents having a natter around six months ago, but is fast blossoming into an informative and lively community group. The Northern Quarter Residents forum now has council and police representatives at their weekly chats about the up-keep of the area.
Not to be confused with a bunch of whingers, this assertive group strive to keep the area at its best and look after the concerns and aspirations of the residents through 'community conversations'.
If you live or work in the Northern Quarter and fancy having your say on a range of topics and issues as well as discussing your own ideas for the area, join the The Northern Quarter Residents forum for free coffee, cake and a chat on Sunday 14 June at the Earth Café from 2-4pm.
The first official community conversation will include discussions on your vision for the Northern Quarter, better use of the limited green areas, and plans for a Northern Quarter festival. It's also a great way of meeting your neighbours and learning more about the area you live in.

Oh and the meeting will be taking in a venue overlooking a car park where someone who obviously does not live in the Northern Quarter has allowed a film company to use it as a location till 3am on Monday morning with big lighting rigs and crews etc etc - Thanks to whoever let that happen !!!
I just wanted to say huge 'thank you' to the residents of the Northern Quarter who organised this event last sunday, and also to the 40 or so resident who attended. Both myself and my fellow city centre councillor Elaine Boyes, went along and participated in what was a real sign of resident participation and involvement. Some really exciting ideas about how the Northern Quarter needs to develop, and we are looking forward to working the forum over the coming months to put those ideas into action. This event proves that city centre resident do care passionately about their area.
