Jordan Mellor finally finds a drink to suit his mood in M-Twenty

Published on September 12th 2008.

Suits you sir

Another night in another postcode, but at least I knew where I was eight cocktails later. Last night saw the re-launch of the M-Twenty bar in West Didsbury with a whole host of new cocktails in their newly refurbished bar. I was surely in for a good night.

Cleverly done, the menu was categorised by the mood you were in. If you don't know your cocktails or what you are looking for then knowing the mood your in dictates what drinks are most suitable.

Starting the night I checked out the menu and my mood was jumping out at me, after a long day at work, 'I needed a stiff drink'. This was then proceeded by the thought that 'I needed another holiday' but to need 'another' holiday it would be a good idea to have a holiday in the first place.

These categories made the night more fun and each drink I had suited the mood I was in perfectly. Before I knew it I found myself perusing the 'I'm in the mood to party' section.

The bar staff were as fast and efficient as they could possibly be when making cocktails for ten to fifteen people at a time and it was hypnotising to watch them at work. They were serving the drinks quickly and making sure all the guests were well looked after.

My drink of choice would be the Brazilian Mule, a refreshing concoction which unlike the normal mules wasn't over spicy with the taste of ginger. Instead it offered a fruity flavour mixed with Cachaca 51. It was the taste of samba.

Another favoured was the Yaga Yaga cocktail which was accompanied by dragon fruit. Heard of it? I hadn't, but I was informed it could be purchased in most Tesco's and is an exotic piece of fruit which made the drink stand out.
