The highly anticipated Manchester versus Cancer charity bash is looking odds on like being a top notch affair after announcing the latest stars to get involved.
Former members of the Smiths, bassist Andy Rourke (who’s actually the brains behind the idea) and Johnny Marr have already announced that they’ll perform together publicly for the first time since the Smiths split in 1988.
They’ll join the likes of New Order, Badly Drawn Boy, Mani, Doves and Stephen Fretwell on stage at the MEN Arena on January 28th 2006. With any luck, there are also expected to be a load of collaborations between the bands on stage.
With more names being added to the list almost every day, the gig is hoping to be the biggest charity concert seen in Manchester and is aiming to raise £1 million for Manchester’s Christie Hospital.
Tickets for the eagerly awaited event go on sale via ticketmaster on 0870 190 8000 or via www.ticketmaster.co.uk on 17th December and will be priced from £40. For more information about the ticket release date visit www.manchestervcancer.co.uk.
