THERE are few better ways to ward off thoughts of the week ahead than with an evening of celluloid escapism. At Manchester235 on Sunday afternoons, they'll not only give you a classic film to immerse yourself in – but also the kind of comforts that multiplexes haven't quite mastered yet.
You'll be welcomed with a drink from the bar – choose between a bottle of Peroni, a glass of house wine, a house spirit and mixer or a soft drink. Then you'll get comfy with a delicious bar meal before the film starts. Leave some space for the popcorn.
The films are shown on the big screen in their luxurious 235Live Events Suite. You've already missed Requiem for a Dream (enough misery to make anyone feel grateful for their life, even on a Sunday night) and the warm-fuzzy fest of Officer and a Gentleman.
They've got some interesting choices coming up next – here's the schedule.
16 October: Rain Man
30 October: American Beauty
13 November: Quadrophenia
27 November: The Omen
It's the perfect diversion for a Sunday evening. Forget the ironing and complicated cooking preparations – head down to Manchester235 in the Great Northern Warehouse off Deansgate instead.
Tickets for Silver Screen Sundays cost £15 per person and include a drink, a bar meal, popcorn and your classic film ticket. Arrive at 4pm. Films start at 4.30pm.
