SEAT want to save you money

Manchester SEAT have some advice on how to avoid paying out on your car this winter

Published on November 13th 2008.

SEAT want to save you money

Everyone's looking for ways to save these days, but ignoring essential maintenance on your car isn't a wise idea, according to the experts at SEAT.

They're on a mission right now to get Manchester's car drivers to their garage for their annual service. They professionally service all types of cars (not just SEATS) and offer everyone, whatever they drive, the same high standards of customer care – including a complementary drop off and pick up service.

But they're aware that many people might be considering skipping their car's service this year, thanks to the nosediving economy. Manny Maisuria, their general sales manager, explains why that could end up costing you more in the long run.

Says Manny, “Cars today are far more reliable and dependable than ever, but at the end of the day, they are still machines with thousands of moving parts and things sometimes go wrong.

“Vehicles need to be checked on a regular basis to ensure everything is in full working order and, no matter what make and model you drive, it's important to stick to the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals.”

Working in a busy after-sales environment, Manny has witnessed the effects of neglected vehicle maintenance.

He explains: “At its most basic level, failure to have your car serviced regularly may affect its performance and hit you hard in the pocket with higher fuel bills. Even something as simple as having under-inflated tyres can have a dramatic effect on a car’s fuel economy.

“Apparently minor problems can go on to cause major damage to other parts of your vehicle and lead to potentially expensive repair bills. And when it comes to selling your vehicle or trading it in, the first thing any potential buyer is going to look at is its service history.

“Most important, though, is the effect not having your vehicle inspected regularly can have on your safety, and that of your passengers and other road users.”

Some convincing arguments there. We've got a competition to win a service at SEAT Manchester running at the moment – click here to enter.
