Pat on the back for Cow Parade sponsors – except the lawyers

Published on January 7th 2005.

As Manchester’s bizarre Cow Parade 2004 mooooves into the city, residents are preparing for some serious bouts of cow spotting but, as everyone else gives themselves a big cow pat on the back, there is one industry sector who are left hanging their heads in shame.

As the cream of the crop of Manchester businesses raise money for charity - 196 sold so far – the moulded cows are decorated by artists before being sponsored by local companies and placed around the city - the solicitors and lawyers have been conspicuous by their absence, showing a remarkable inability to put their hands in their pockets, once again proving the old adage that the lawyer is the tightest worker of the lot.

Indeed, the event seems to have pasturised the lawyers by. Anyway, we at Manchester Confidential are not amooosed and so have supplied our members with their very own cow pat, so that if you spot a tight-fisted or miserable person in town not enjoying the cow parade, be it a bar, restaurant or strip joint, you can give them their very own pat on the back.

Just click here to download your cow pat.

The cows are currently in pre-parade training but will be unleashed in the city on June 14th.

The head of the herd was asked how his fitness levels were coming on before the big event: “I’m doing fine, but my calves are killing me” replied Flora.

For anyone who hasn’t heard of the Cow Parade 2004, you may need to read the following information to avoid being bemoooosed by the sight of decorated plastic cows around the city over the next few weeks.

The Cow Parade officially starts on June 14, although some cows have already broken out of the barn to give Manchester’s residents a sneak preview of what’s to come. The parade will be running until October when all of the cows will be auctioned off to raise even more money for worthy charities such as Manchester Kids.

"My calves are killing me!"

With 196 sponsored cows, and with loads of designers from the region milking the opportunity to showcase their designs on the heffers, the parade is set to be spectacular.

Cow auctions have long been taking place around the world now, with major cities all taking part for charitable causes. Manchester joins the ranks of the greats. But leaves the lawyers at home.
