October listings for Electrik

A free set by Andy Weatherall plus a brand new Guestrant star and more

Published on October 1st 2010.

October listings for Electrik

Electrik is keeping Chorlton buzzing this October – there's a free set by a legendary DJ, German nosh and beers, a favourite Manchester chef, funny men, and a Halloween special with a ghoulishly good line-up. And that's on top of the other regular reasons to head there – cheap, good food and drink being our favourite.

Oktoberfest
29 September-3 October
Here's a chance to try the best of German beers whilst noshing on your sausage. Like last year, Electrik's bringing a little bit of the famous Munich Oktober Beer Festival to Chorlton. It's a chance to test out some of the best German beers brewed especially for this year's Oktober Fest, plus a few others that the Electrik gang particularly liked. Augustiner, Spaten, Hoffbrau, Paulaner, and Lowenbrau plus more will be showcased alongside some good Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Brezel and Obadza.

The Return Of Andrew Weatherall
Sunday 17 October. 7pm-midnight.
Free
Following on from his multiple sets at this year's Electric Elephant festival in Croatia, Mr Andrew Weatherall will be making his way to Electrik to take up position in their comfy chair and play whatever he wants. Last year he treated them to sounds of a rock-a-billy nature when he played at one of these One Deck sesssions. It proved to be a roadblock event so you're advised to get on down early to grab a seat.

Guestrant with Peter Booth from Gabriel's Kitchen
Monday 25 October. From 7.30pm
Tickets £25 in advance from Electrik
This is the chef behind two local favourites – Gabriel's Kitchen and the cafe at the Whitworth Gallery. He's got awards, accolades and rave reviews by the lorry load, and he cooks with only the freshest locally and ethically sourced ingredients. Here's your chance to experience some of his innovative and tantalising dishes at a convival, communal style meal at Electrik. It'll sell out so don't dither if you want to go. Get your ticket at Electrik or email info@electrikbar.co.uk.

Shockingly Funny
Wednesday 27 October
Free
As part of the Manchester Comedy Festival, Electrik will present a special night of comedy from Shockingly Funny featuring nationally recognised acts from stage and screen alongside up-and-coming local talent. MC Chris Brooker, Des Sharples, Ruth E Cockburn, Jay Hampson, Alex Boardman – quick, sharp humour from a charming bunch of stand-ups.

Aficionado Halloween Special
Sunday 31 October, 7pm-midnight.
Free
On All Hallows' Eve the original Addams Family will be welcomed back into the confines of castle Electrik. On this night when all the monsters come out to play, expect even more bizarre behaviour as the ghouls of Aficionado are joined by very special guests from El Diablos and Detroit Public Radio. Full line-up is Moonboots, Jason Boardman, Neil Scott (El Diablos Social Club), Matt Ward (Detroit Public Radio), and Stuart Burnell.
