It’s all about sparkles this New Year's Eve with glitz and shimmer all over the High Street, what better excuse do we need to dazzle this New Year? What ever your preference for party attire - we’ve got it covered in this week's guide to all that is glam for the biggest party night of the year.
The waistcoat has been big all season, providing a practical yet ever so stylish alternative to the traditional cardigan or shirt. For New Year, why not jazz it up with the glitziest of detailing. This option is from M&S and has been reduced from £49.50 to £25.00! - So it’s not only stunning but will give you more pennies to spend at the bar too! A soft and sparkly alternative to this season's key look, which will have you glittering in the aisles. Worn over a vest top, T-shirt or even on its own during your bolder moments, this is a stunning way to complete your party wardrobe.
For an alternative look to all over sparkles why not try shifting the glitz to one part of your body? This fantastic skirt is £69.00 from Principles and provides the most amazing detailing to really create that eye-catching look. The vertical lines are extremely flattering, creating the optical illusion of length to make even the shortest leg look elegant and long. Try twinning this with a plain top and sparkly accessories for the perfect New Year look.
If sequins and glitz are a bit too much for you why not try glamming up in bold prints? This season has seen the return of the print in a big way with bold colours and interesting patterns creating some real head turning statements. This dress from Monsoon (£135) is one of the best examples of this trend around. It’s floor skimming length and flattering halter neck design give real red carpet glamour and being made of 100% silk, you’ll feel like a million dollars in it. Top this look off with pared down accessories and let the dress do the talking!
Not sure whether to opt for trousers or a skirt? Why not try one of this seasons hottest looks and opt for cropped trousers. They come in a variety of leg lengths- from bum skimming shorts for the more daring, down to calf length chic for the safer option, either way they make a great look for any age. The featured calf length option is from Matthew Williamson at Debenhams (£30.00). The charcoal grey provides a refreshing alternative to black and the herringbone design gives a delicate detail. To add glamour opt for this style in one of the many satin fabrics that are available all over the place at the moment- River Island and Top Shop have both gone to town on this look and have some great examples. Twin them with a glitzy top and a pair of heels and bob’s your uncle- an ultra cool outfit with a glamorous twist.
If you want to keep warm(ish) this New Year or you have shoulders and upper arms that prefer to be covered, opt for one of this seasons oh so chic shrugs. There are plenty to choose from by my favourite is this soft feel pewter feather shrug with satin lining from Principles (£40). It’s a more glamorous alternative to a pashmina and can be worn with formal wear or to glam up a pair of jeans.
If toned down glamour is your more thing, why not keep the clothing low key and jazz up the accessories?! There are tonnes of fabulous options on the High Street this season that will add glitz by the bucket load. These ballet pumps From Dorothy Perkins (£20) are a glamorous yet practical option proving that you don’t have to do heels to add style. Plus who will be laughing at midnight when you are still bopping away on the dance floor in your fantastic shoes while others have had to go for barefoot comfort?
For instant sparkle why not try adding a sequinned scarf to your existing outfits? It’s a versatile addition to any wardrobe and will give any outfit instant glamour- try this silver skinny option from Debenhams (£10).
So there you go ladies, have a very stylish Christmas and New Year! I’ll be back in January with the pick of the bargains from the January sales.
