Motorbikes are Sexy

Published on March 20th 2006.

Some people are cat people, some are dog people. Dog people think that cat people are rubbish, and vice versa. Similarly, some people are motorbike people, some are car people. But while car people may curse motorbike people as they speed past them on country lanes, or whizz effortlessly through the standing traffic on the M56 on a Monday morning, they in fact secretly want to be them.

Yes, in your car it's warm and dry and you can listen to Chris Moyles as you accelerate and brake your way to work in the mornings. But when that biker whizzes past us while we crawl along in the traffic, it taps into the Easy Rider in all of us, the part of us that would pull a sicky and drive to Dundee in our bare feet - if only we could get out of this traffic jam…

Motorbikes are sexy. And the sexiest of them all is the Ducati. The Ferarri of the motorcycle world, Ducati stands for everything that is young, fast and furious in life. Ducati originated in Bologna in 1926 and since then has become the coolest name in motorsports, with a list of celebrity Ducati aficionados, including the likes of Brad Pitt (who was recently seen whizzing around Paris on his Ducati), attesting to the brand's supercool status.

Throughout more than fifty years of superior engineering, competition testing and cutting-edge design, Ducati has built an enduring motorcycle legacy. From the fastest sport bikes to the meanest Monsters, Ducati has been the vehicle of choice for the most fanatical enthusiasts and the most demanding riders.

Ducati offers a range of the most highly sophisticated and sought-after bikes ever created. Names like Diana, Darmah, Pantah, Scrambler and Paso have entered the lexicon as exemplars of premium performance and timeless Italian style. Contemporary classics such as the Monster and the Multistrada have become benchmarks in their respective classes. The 999, World Superbike Champion, is a modern masterpiece of motorcycle design and a worthy successor to the 916, regarded as the most classical Ducati icon.

With Ducati this year officially becoming the sexiest 80 year old that you're ever likely to know (well, apart from maybe Jimmy Saville – also 80 this year!), Ducati Store Manchester will unveil its new look at a glittering launch party in April. The showroom has recently been refurbished and extended to take the dealership well and truly into the 21st century.

Providing everything that a Ducati enthusiast or newcomer could ever want or need, Ducati Manchester is now a one stop shop for everything from the bikes themselves to accessories, clothing, spare parts and even financial assistance. Trained Ducati technicians will ensure that you and your beautiful bike are well looked after, and will be ready to fix or customise your bike in any way that you want it.

Ducati Store Manchester will also be holding an open weekend on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23d April for all you die hard motorbike fans, there will be drinks, nibbles and some amazing giveaways.

If you would like to unleash the free spirit inside and see what Ducati have to offer you, click here to register your interest in the open weekend or click here to be in with a chance to win 4 tickets to the launch party. Or, there's always a Ford Focus and a traffic jam.
