ManchesterConfidential.com celebrates at The Big Chip Awards

Published on February 28th 2005.

ManchesterConfidential.com picked up a well deserved nomination at the Big Chip Awards on Thursday night in the Best Commercial Website category, up against the best of the North West’s 2005 projects including the Everton FC website.

As a subsidiary of 2M Media Ltd., ManchesterConfidential.com was also basking in further back-patting glory as 2M’s client gluegunsdirect.com picked up the award for Best Ecommerce Website at Manchester Digital’s annual bash.

The Big Chip Awards, sponsored by companies at the heart of the digital world such as Google, New Age Media and The North West Development Agency are the North West Digital Industry's equivalent of the Oscars. Now in their seventh year, the awards celebrate the wealth of talent in digital industries in the North.

The night was held at New Century Hall in Manchester and was hosted by the great Anthony Wilson.

With a champagne reception, the ManchesterConfidential.com team and some of our clients including Steve Kittos from Leather Studio, David Partridge of Argent, Cath Murphy from Heaven Spa, Comedy Store funny man John Locke and Scott Harper, manager of Malmaison all squashed up and sat down for a three course meal.

With Faye (Big) our marketing genius having to sit through 16 awards with her finger nails bitten down to bone before the big moment arrived, tenderhooks were being strained to the limit. Alas, it was not to be as one of the most competitive categories on the night went to Code Computer Love and Iknow-uk – congratulations to them, champagne, wine and beer to us to drown our sorrows.

Ian Kenyon of The Kenyon Group, owners of the award winning www.gluegunsdirect.com said: “In 2004 we decided to totally change our website which had already been successful in generating new business and raising the profile of The Kenyon Group Ltd. We worked very closely with Clock Creative Ltd and 2M:media Ltd to produce a more streamlined user friendly site. The re-designed site was launched in October 2004 and immediately saw a massive increase in visitor number and continues to do so.

Very special thanks go to Clock Creative (the site’s designers) and 2M Media for working so closely with us to produce such an exciting and impressive website, a great team effort”.

The night moved on to the Circle club until 6 in the morning where many thanks to Code for buying some consolation drinks (If we had won we’d have obviously been doing the same!). See you next year!
