Manchester Art Show

Published on October 25th 2005.

Bringing together all aspects of the contemporary art world under one roof, the Manchester Art Show incorporates a unique mosaic of museums, arts organisations, publications and private galleries.

Bringing a wealth of high quality, original art to the city from both established and emerging UK and international galleries and artists, Manchester Art Show takes place between the 27th and the 30th of October, at Manchester International Convention Centre next to the G-Mex.

The show will feature both established and emerging artists, including Damien Hirst, Patrick Heron, Maggi Hambling, Chris Gollon, Victor Pasmore, Patrick Caulfield, Joe Tilson, Terry Frost and L.S. Lowry. The fair will offer confirmed art addicts the opportunity to seek out new galleries and artists, but will also offer beginners an ideal introduction to the pleasures of buying art in a relaxed setting and informal atmosphere.

Carolyn Burnett, Director of Engaging Arts said, ‘We felt strongly that the general public, art buyers and business community are encouraged to buy art if there is a relaxed environment. The Show continues to promote art to a wider audience and provide artists with a unique opportunity for greater exposure across the UK.’

A new feature of the show this year will be the Arts Info stands where numerous arts organisations, galleries and publishers from across the UK and beyond will bring you all the latest information on events and exhibitions across the art world today.

Companies such as Contemporary Art Society, Manchester Art Gallery, TATE Liverpool, Whitworth Art Gallery, Castlefield Gallery, Huddersfield Art Gallery, The Lowry, Chinese Arts Centre, Arts & Business and Axis will give visitors the chance to explore how museum curators, commercial gallery directors and magazine editors work with contemporary artists. Visitors to the Show will also get the opportunity to find out more about the wealth of visual arts nationally and internationally.

The show aims to bring art to a wider audience and provide both galleries, artists and arts organisations with the opportunity for greater exposure around Manchester and across the North West region as a whole, and Manchester’s strong reputation for style and culture make the city an ideal platform from which to view, buy and sell a choice selection of paintings, photography and sculpture.
