Published on November 10th 2008.

MTV Europe Music Awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards took place last weekat the Liverpool Echo Arena. Stars such as Kanye West, Beyonce, Duffy, Leona Lewis and Katy Perry were buffed, massaged and polished backstage. The celebrity spa featured Organic Pharmacy (massages and facials), St. Tropez (spray tanning), Cowshed (scented dressing rooms and spa) and Paul Labrecque Luxury Hair Care. Kanye West and Jules from the Ting Tings enjoyed their full body massage.

Howard Donald from Take That was wearing the St Tropez Aero Bronze for his performance whilst Welsh singer, Duffy, requested some Organic Pharmacy Immune Support Tonic as she was not feeling well. Kid Rock's band stocked up on the Organic Pharmacy homeopathic hangover pills, as predicted.

The Paul Labrecque Luxury Hair Care collection was used by all the hair stylists backstage to ensure everyone was looking their most glamorous for the biggest european music event of the year. Paul's client list includes Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Brittany Murphy, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kim Cattrall, to name but a few.

After the luxuries back stage, the show kicked off with Katy Perry riding a Cherry Chapstick in a performance of “I Kissed A Girl”. Pink was the first award winner of the night, picking up Most Additive Track for “So What” from UK pop trio, Sugababes. Beyoncé took to the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards for the third time for a performance of new single “If I Were A Boy” supported by an all-girl band. Take That performed their new single Greatest Day. Kanye West and Estelle also made their performance debuts at this year’s show in Liverpool along with Salford band,

The Ting Tings who performed “That's not my name.”

Sir Paul McCartney was honoured in a special award - the Ultimate Legend Award – which was presented to him by U2 lead singer Bono. Continuing MTV’s one night love affair with Liverpool, The Wombats then took to the stage and performed a cover version of Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.”
